Stonehenge challenge

The staff from Tesco's Fenny Lock depot in Milton Keynes trekked from Stonehenge all the way back to work to fundraise for the Tesco Charity of the Year 2009 partnership.  Expedition organiser Gary Crawford blogs on their adventure:

"When we set off to do this challenge none of us thought that it would be as tiring as it was although rewarding as well.

For the first stage we walked from Stonehenge to Badbury Castle which was mostly dual carriageway for 30-odd miles.  It was an early night for the first camp as we were all so tired!

Stage two was to just past Letcombe Regis (approx 15 miles) where we ended up with a nice campsite - hooray! Hot showers and a TV room made for a good night.

Stage three and we all put in good mileage today, amazing what a nice shower can do for you. Finished at Watlington (27 miles) and another nice campsite with good facilities.

Stage four. We set off early again today as we were determined to get to Ivinghoe Beacon (25 miles away). We made it in early evening though a couple of lads had some nasty blisters which needed sorting.  Tonight it was a wild camp, so we got on a brew and made dinner.  Early night again, the fresh air was making us go to be so early which was probably not a bad thing really!

Stage five. We all woke early to realise we would be finished soon as we only had about 15 miles to go and it was along canal paths which would at least be flat. Also, because canals usually have pubs!  Everyone was laughing and joking today, I think as we knew it wasn't long now.  A few hours later we could se our depot and we had done it.  We got into the depot and had a decent meal before going home to soak our muscles in a nice hot bath.

Everyone has said that, although it was hard, they want to sign up for next years challenge so we will have to try to beat this year's one!"
