Losing pounds to raise pounds!
Martin Butcher, Store Manager at Tesco Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, is aiming to lose four stone to raise over £5,000 for the Tesco Charity of the Year partnership. Having started his slimline challenge on 17 June, Martin is now well into his charity diet as he describes below.
"Well, 7 weeks into my diet and so far I have lost 1 and a half stone - although I have just returned back from holiday and admittedly,I have put a few pounds back on. However, onward and upward, I am back on the regime.
"So far we have raised £2,000 in-store with a further £1,000 pledged to my diet. This week we are completing an exercise bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End (870 miles). The bike is positioned at the front of the store so the whole store team will be making an effort with our customers also joining in. We hope to raise in excess of £1,000 alone this weekend and the collection appears to be going very well so far. I am always astounded with customers genorosity (particulary in hard times) when they see us putting a little effort in and having fun."
"We have some more fundraising planned for September with a local Air Training Core exercise drill and a Catterick army assault course to really test me!"
