Tesco graduates conquer Britain's highest peak for MDC

Thursday 19 March 2009

An intrepid team of ten Tesco Distribution Graduates battled Arctic conditions to climb Ben Nevis and raise over £900 to fund vital equipment for children with muscular dystrophy.

The group battled through constant hail and snowstorms in temperatures between -8 and -25 degrees whilst being battered by 20mph winds - conditions more commonly found on mountains four times the height of Ben Nevis.

Local police in Northern Scotland confirmed that, out of all groups registering with them that week, the Tesco team were the only ones to reach the summit.  Crossing frozen waterfalls, climbing rocky buttresses and gullies and navigating in zero visibility with snow up to their knees made the challenge of scaling the 4,400ft mountain all the more difficult.

Huge thanks and congratulations to Ray, Oliver, Kamran, Georgina, Clare, Leanne, Laurence, Ewan, Mick and mountain guide James Osborn for this incredible achievement.
