Tesco Superstores go wild for the Wild West
Tuesday 26 May 2009
The entire Tesco Superstores, South division were transported to the Wild West over the bank holiday weekend to raise funds for the Giving children equipment to be independent campaign.
Customers mounted real horses as staff held games, events and competitions to get customers involved in the frontier town fun. Tesco Gloucester even managed to round up a local junior school to decorate the store with cacti, tumbleweeds and wanted posters. The store also served a selection of Wild West themed food in the staff canteen.
Tesco Strood, in contrast, decided not to eat their food but sit in it, as members of staff took on the 'baked bean bath challenge'. Customers brave enough to approach the tub were able to pour an extra can in for a donation as well as being able to guess the total contents of the bath to win top Tesco prizes.
It is estimated that the Tesco Superstores Wild West showdown raised over £100,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, Tesco Charity of the Year 2009!
