Ready, steady, go for the Tesco Great School Run!

Britain's schoolchildren are getting ready to go the extra mile for the Giving children Colin Jackson calls Nottingham children to the starting line at last year's eventequipment to be independent campaign as part of the Tesco Great School Run.

The Tesco Great School Run is a fun run for 5-11 year olds staged at schools across the UK in July to encourage children to take part in exercise for fun, and to help make physical activity part of each school's and every family's lifestyle.

Now in its 5th year, the event aims to get 1 million schoolchildren involved by walking, running or using their wheelchair to complete the 2km course.  This year, as part of the Tesco Charity of the Year 2009 partnership, the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has been selected as the scheme's suggested charity for children to gain sponsorship for.
