Guess the weight of the giant pastyTesco's Cornish suppliers pulled out all the stops at the Royal Cornwall Show earlier this month by selling produce and holding competitions to raise an impressive £2,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, Tesco Charity of the 2009.

The Tesco stand at the Royal Cornwall Show featured over twenty suppliers from across the region offering samples of local produce that can be found in the supermarket's Cornish stores.

Visitors had the chance to try their hand at pasty crimping and could make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to buy local eggs and biscuits. Suppliers also challenged visitors to guess the weight of a giant pasty to win bakery vouchers or estimate the number of eggs in a bowl to win a chance to have a top Cornish chef cook at their home for an evening!

Jo Wren, Tesco Regional Marketing Manager in the South West, said:
"I'm delighted that our Cornish suppliers got so involved with our fundraising for the Charity of the Year partnership. To raise £2,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign really is a wonderful achievement and will help improve the lives of many children living in Cornwall."

Tesco and local suppliers will continue to support the Charity of the Year Partnership and raise awareness at selected shows across the country over the coming months.
