The golf marathon team take a break from their epic challengeStaff at Tesco's Unity distribution centres went golfing crazy to raise over £1,000 for the Giving children equipment to be independent campaign.

Cengiz Gulmez from Tesco's Frozen food depot in Northamptonshire organised a golfing marathon for himself and his 3 friends and colleagues Kevin Dodd, David Harvey and Matt Jackson. Starting at the crack of 4am, the team played non-stop golf for an astonishing 19 hours on June 26, covering three golf courses and 54 holes. A huge thank-you goes to Cosby, Whetstone and Luttherworth Golf Courses who all gave the team free entry for their sponsorship attempt.  Following the golf, the boys held a raffle back at work to add to the fundraising and provide a total of £850 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Also taking place in June, three distribution centres clubbed together to play 27 holes of golf at Staverton Golf Club. Following a friendly warm up of nine holes in the morning, the competition began in earnest after lunch with Unity charity champions Claire Walker and Wendy Midson travelling around the course in a buggy with drinks and snacks to help the guys with their game. All players made donations into the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign collection can to raise £327.39 in total.

Winning team "The Bogies" were from Unity Distribution Centre, made up of Gary Tew, James Cruickshank, Graham Keating and Ron Albone - congratulations to them and all their challengers!
