Stephen tries a tri!
Wednesday 26 August 2009
Following on from his marathon success in April, twenty-nine year old Stephen Hole is now trebling his challenge as he tackles his first ever triathlon to increase his personal fundraising total for the Giving children equipment to be independent campaign.
On 13 September at Harlyn Bay, Padstow, Stephen will attempt an Olympic Distance Triathlon involving a 1.5km swim followed by a 40km bike and topped of with a 10km run. Stephen, who works as a Stock Controller at Tesco Extra Pool, is finding the training tough but worthwhile:
I've been training six days a week for the last two months. My hardest sessions are when I do a 1 hour bike followed by a 45 minute run - it must be funny to watch me get off the bike and run like John Wayne for the first mile!
This event is for a great cause so I plan to take it easy and make sure I finish the race, I'm really looking forward to it!
Stephen has already raised over £2,300 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign since April this year and hopes to raise a further £1,000 which will be spent providing equipment for children in the local area with muscular dystrophy. He is collecting donations at Tesco Extra Pool on Friday 11 September or you can donate online by visiting www.justgiving.com/stephenholetriathlon.
