Tom does the honours at store reopening

Nine-year-old Tom Scutt was the guest of honour at the grand reopening of Tesco Extra Winchester Tom cuts the ribbonas he received a £500 donation as part of the Giving children equipment to be independent campaign.

Tom, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, cut the ribbon to officially reopen the store which has been extended and modernised, creating 150 new jobs as a result.

Store Manager Julian Griffiths presented Tom with a £500 donation which will go towards a new accessible bath and sink.  These pieces of equipment will allow Tom's parents to bathe him more easily and mean that Tom will be much more comfortable.

Tom said:

I am so pleased with the money which will go towards my new bath and sink - thank you Tesco!  It was really exciting cutting the ribbon and I had a great morning.
