Distribution staff complete endurance challenges
Friday 27 November 2009
Tesco staff from the Unity depot in Northamptonshire have completed two huge endurance challenges to raise over £4,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Jim Hartshorne, General Manager at Unity Frozen Distribution Centre, succesfully completed the gruelling London triathlon in an impressive 2 hrs 39 minutes to raise £1,200. The world-renowned event, which takes place on the streets of the capital between the Houses of Parliament and the ExCeL Centre in East London, involves taking on a 10km run, a 1500m swim and a 40km cycle. Congratulations to Jim who managed to beat his 2 hrs 45 minute target time.
Meanwhile, five intrepid explorers also took on the legendary Three Peaks Challenge for the Tesco Charity of the Year partnership. Wendy Midson, Richie Moran, Rachel Jerams, Laura Boxhall and Jon Battle scaled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hrs to raise £2,800 - despite their minibus breaking down on the M6 just an hour into their challenge!
