About the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign

What does the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign do?

We are the leading UK charity focusing on all muscle diseases. We have pioneered the search for treatments and cures for over 50 years, and are dedicated to improving the lives of all children and adults affected by muscular dystrophy.

What is muscular dystrophy?

Muscular dystrophy is a devastating, incurable and life-limiting condition that causes muscles to waste away, making children progressively weaker and preventing them from performing simple tasks that we take for granted, such as turning the pages of a book or brushing their hair.

It is estimated that over 8,000 babies and children in the UK have muscular dystrophy or a related muscle disease.

There is no cure for the condition, however, the equipment funded by the partnership will greatly improve the quality of life of many children across the UK.
