Store staff see fundraising impact
Tesco staff in Keith, Aberdeenshire, saw the impact of their fundraising when they were given the chance to meet local eight-year-old Ellie Broadley and see her new specialist trike.Ellie has a condition called Bethlem myopathy which causes extreme muscle weakness. Her new £1,5000 trike will provide her with essential independence, maintaining mobility and increasing muscle strength, and delaying her need to use a wheelchair permanently.
She met up with staff from the Keith superstore to say thank you for all their fundraising efforts over the past twelve months and their generous support of the Tesco Charity of the Year 2009 partnership.
Ellie said:
My new trike is absolutely brilliant! It makes it so much easier for me to get around, especially when I'm feeling tired or achey. I wanted to say thank you to everyone at Tesco and I've told my mum she's only allowed to shop there from now on!

It was lovely to meet Ellie. She was so happy with her trike and I'm delighted that our fundraising has helped a local child in such an incredible way.
